When I began exploring the Internet with the intent of making money online, I believed that creating a useful website could make you rich.
I was wrong.
Simply creating a useful website is not sufficient for making money. You need to create a valuable website within a profitable niche. In essence, you need to target a niche where your visitors are willing to purchase the products you promote and aren’t afraid to click on ads.
To put it bluntly, you should design websites for people with a limited understanding of technology who are willing to pay you—either directly or indirectly through ads.
If you have a website catering to tech-savvy individuals, don’t expect to generate substantial revenue through Pay Per Click ads. So, if you run a website about computer hacking, forget about making substantial money through ads. Your visitors will arrive, read the article, and quietly exit.
So, what kind of websites are lucrative for making money?
If you want to earn a substantial income, create websites for people who aren’t very tech-savvy. Your ideal visitor (target audience) is someone who can simply open a web browser, surf the Internet, and check their email. They should also have ample money to spend online.
You can discover numerous profitable niches such as health, parenting, pet care, gardening, fashion, crafts, and cooking. Additionally, you can create websites about watches, interior decoration, shoes, travel, farming, and vegetable gardening. These are just a few niches that would attract a non-tech-savvy readership.
When you target non-tech-savvy individuals, you have a higher chance of getting clicks on your website ads, and you’re more likely to make sales. In contrast, if your primary website visitors are techies, they will avoid clicking on ads. Products being promoted or sold by you will also be met with a degree of suspicion.
I’ve witnessed websites earning $1,000 from just 10,000 page views. Conversely, I’ve seen websites with similar traffic make a mere $10. How does one make $1,000 while the other struggles with just $10? The answer is straightforward: the right niche and the right strategy.
Websites that consistently generate substantial income invariably promote or sell products in the right niches (mostly targeted at non-tech-savvy individuals). The website making $10 is likely focused on high-tech topics for geeks and relies on AdSense for income. Can you see the difference?
If you aim to make $1,000 for every 10,000 page views, you need to have a website catering to non-tech-savvy individuals and include Amazon or eBay products in your articles. You can also sell your own products or promote them through affiliate programs.
Let’s assume you have a blog about building or repairing homes. If you solely depend on Google ads to make money through your website, you’ll probably end up earning much less than $1,000. In contrast, promoting products from Amazon or eBay means you can earn a decent amount in commissions. Imagine that only 100 of your visitors actually clicked on Amazon links. Out of those, only 10 spent $500 in the online store. If you’re entitled to a 5% commission, you’ll make $25 per sale. That’s $250 from a website with 10,000 monthly visitors.
Always create websites in niches with purchase intent and targeted the less tech-savvy individuals. Your ideal visitors are those who can surf the web, check their emails, and engage in online shopping but lack expertise in technology. In all other matters related to the Internet, the less they know, the better it is for your finances. So, stop thinking like a geek and follow the non-tech-savvy path.
